Sofia by Sofia Vergara collection for Kmart

As the brand new Sofia by Sofia Vergara collection for Kmart hits stores this fall, so does its fun and innovative advertising campaign featuring Vergara's boundless energy, great sense of humor, and bold style. Just like the collection itself, the print and television ads were designed with real women in mind who want to feel confident and sexy- women who, as the tagline says, "Work What You Got."

"The whole idea was about channeling Sofia who has this fabulously distinct and infectious confidence. She's sexy and gorgeous for sure, but she's also got this tremendously funny, non-seriousness about her which we wanted to make sure not to lose in the campaign," said Courtney Vincent, associate creative director of advertising firm, Peterson Milla Hooks (PMH).

The print campaign, shot by famed photographer Norman Jean Roy, was captured in an intimate indoor setting, a brownstone in Brooklyn, N.Y., which lent a warm and personal tone to the photos. Clad in highlights from the collection, Vergara posed throughout the private home with key direction from Roy to ensure each shot conveyed both the essence of her character and collection.

The commercial spots took a different route and emphasized the versatility of the collection by utilizing advanced digital technology to feature Vergara morphing into women of different body types. Each woman lip synced to Vergara's voiceover track while projecting her confident and sexy persona.

MOAT to launch Stunning Day to Dark Collection

What do Grace Jones, Sneaky Sound System and Miley Grace have in common? They've all been spotted sporting threads by emerging Australian swimwear label Muther of All Things, that's what.

And rightly so. Boned corsets, capped sleeve leotards, and plunging V necklines are just some of the creations you'll be seeing on the beach this season thanks to the high fashion meets beach nomad style of Muther Of All Things. MOAT will launch their hotly anticipated Summer 2011-2012 range on October 1st, 2011.

Fresh on the heels of their much-lauded 2010 debut, MOAT’s latest range features multiple designs that can be worn in the day as well as after dark.

Statement pieces include the Lenny II, a long sleeve leotard surfsuit made to withstand the rigors of the ocean, yet graceful enough to wear dining out. Or the eye-catching Corvet, a structured and boned corset-style two piece that continues MOAT’s signature surf-meets-couture look, ensuring effortless transitions from the beach to the bar.

Across the range MOAT proves function and fashion don’t need to be mutually exclusive. “We wanted to create a swim and surf label with a fresh twist; beautiful pieces made by women for women seeking something stylish and functional,” explains MOAT co-founder, Marisa Sidoti. Marisa formed MOAT with longtime friend Joceline Godfrey, and the duo claim Byron Bay’s surf bohemian lifestyle provided the catalyst for MOAT’s inception. “We’d both just started to get into surfing, and straight away saw our niche. With so many ladies out there these days, we knew we were bound to make some of them happy,” Sidoti said.

STOLL China Trend Collection A/W 2012-13

H. Stoll GmbH & Co has introduces its Chinese Trend Collection for Autumn/Winter 2012-13.

RE-THINK is the theme for the collection.

Talking…about the contrast of sustainability and the digital landscape we face today.

Thinking…about using things that have been abandoned or characterized as waste such as stones or shards of glass left on a beach.

Rebuilding…our structures including economies and new resources. In all this the industrial aspectand the contrast of things “being created and handmade” come into consideration.

Coming back …to the root of matters to create a future that is worth living in. The thought of reusing “refuse” and sustainable yarn is being integrated into knitwear.

New resources from plant fibres as well as natural dying features are being explored. Alternative solutions show the way to combine these elements in an innovative and sophisticated way.

The new collection Autumn/Winter 2012/2013 is an attempt at this.

The colours range from earthy stone greys to warm purple and violet, while black and crème are a neutralizing go-between. Starting from materials like stone, glass and plastic, natural optics and transparent features have been integrated into the collection. Transparency and layering techniques are important themes as well as the clean black and white group that is a graphic statement of modernity.

Tommy Hilfiger Spring 2012 Review

When it comes to Tommy Hilfiger, preppy Americana is what you’re going to get—but that doesn’t mean it’s the same thing season after season. For Spring, it was all about “Pop Prep,” with the Hilfiger team putting a ‘60s pop art spin on all things preppy.

It started with mod little glen plaids, which came in swing coats, tee dresses, and even bikini bottoms that were worn with chunky cable-knit sweaters in bright stripes. Classic shirting made some innovative appearances, whether it was a little moto jacket in poplin or shirttail hems on everything from dress to a skirt. And then there was the leather. One all red ensemble was particularly fab, but shoppers are sure to covet the poppy-colored—think mustard and lavender—leather skirts come spring.

The pop art theme continued with colorful camouflage prints in easy silk dresses, but the best and brightest (literally and figuratively) came in bold colorblock pieces—from sporty swimsuits to the easy caftans that closed the show. Yes, Tommy Hilfiger lives in a prep world—but with a fresh take like this, even the art kids can get in on it.
